By Ex-Chief Dean W. Pappas
December 22, 2023

While on a water condition call in another part of the fire district, Katonah Fire Department Volunteers were dispatched to a report of power lines burning against the side of the building housing Pizza Station on Parkway at about 4:30 PM.. Units completed their investigation of the water condition and redirected to Pizza Station to deal with the situation. Along with Utility 8, Engine 117, and Cars 2212 and 2213, all of which were at the water condition call, Engine 115, Engine 116 and Ladder 39 responded. The issue appeared to be with electrical service lines attached to the building that were sparking and burning. In addition, the third floor of the structure had a smoke condition. Firefighters thoroughly checked the interior and exterior of the building, while NYSEG arrived to kill power to the building. Fire units were on the scene for over an hour, finally leaving the scene at about 6:45 PM.
