KFD Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman Hank Bergson is District 17 Veteran of the Year

The Town of Bedford Veterans Committee announced that Congressman Mike Lawler recently honored Katonah Fire Department Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman Hank Bergson as the District 17 Veteran of the Year. Hank served with distinction in the Army from 1967 to 1970, including commanding B Company, 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds) in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, Hank continued to serve his community: he is a 50-year member of the Katonah Fire Department, served as Chief of the Department for 4 years, and has been a Fire District Commissioner for 30+ years. He is also an active member of Bedford's Veterans Committee and volunteers on several other town committees. Hank's commitment to service has been carried on by his two daughters, Abby and Susan. Abby served in the Army and Susan served in the Peace Corps. Hank was honored by Congressman Lawler on Tuesday, December 19 at the Putnam County Emergency Services Facility in Carmel.
