With Fire Prevention Week in full swing, our firefighters were invited to visit the Kindergarteners at Katonah Elementary School and teach a little bit about fire safety.
2nd Assistant Chief Whalen, Captain Whalen, and Firefighters Roper and Holcman instructed some of our youngest residents on what to do if there was an emergency at their home - including getting outside, calling 911, and ensuring everyone is safe by regrouping at a designated family meeting spot.
Firefighters also showed off Ladder 39, and donned a full set of turnout gear in order to show the Kindergarteners that, while scary at first, a fully dressed firefighter is a friend who is there to help in an emergency.
Special thanks to Assistant Principal Stambaugh for inviting us out and to all our Kindergarteners for hosting us!
If you want to learn more about fire safety come down to our Open House this Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 11am to 2pm. |
