Fire Prevention Week 2024 is Octboer 6 through October 12

KFD's Fire Prevention Week Open House will be Saturday, October 12 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Community Education
Our dedicated members are eager to spread the message of fire safety. We visit local schools and attend community events to teach fire prevention and emergency preparedness. We encourage families to have an emergency escape plan and practice it with their children. We host our annual open house in October to demonstrate the of prevention. We show the rapid spread of fire and the importance of smoke detectors with a live burn. We also invite other agencies such as the New York State Police to demonstrate driving safety including the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt. The Katonah Fire Department is always looking for creative and effective new ways to bring fire safety to our community.

Fire Prevention
We encourage all businesses and homeowners to regularly test their smoke detectors. We publish safety reminders addressing the top causes of fires and how to prevent their occurrence.
