Representatives and apparatus from Katonah Fire Department, Bedford Hills Fire Department and Bedford Village Fire Department gathered at Katonah FD headquarters Monday night for what has become a regular training event. Each department selects vehicles from its apparatus fleet and then drives these vehicles to KFD where all the vehicles are assembled. Then, attendees from each department split up into small groups and take tours of each engine, ladder, rescue or utility vehicle. They learn where equipment is stored, and each apparatus' capabilities. As a result, when the three departments find themselves working together at a large-scale incident, members will know their way around each department's fleet and will subsequently be able to operate more efficiently. The annual all-fleet drill is a great way to build up the relationships amongst Bedford's three volunteer fire agencies.
