At about 10:45 a.m. today, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident on I-684 south near the merge with the Saw Mill River Parkway. Three cars were involved in a crash with a tractor trailer, resulting in closure of all southbound lanes of I-684 at the Exit 6 interchange. Katonah FD Rescue 17, Engine 115 and Car 2211 responded. Upon arrival, crews assisted with transferring motorists to the ambulance, setting up a safe zone, and establishing a new traffic pattern so vehicles on I-684 proper could go over the median and take the Saw Mill Parkway merge road and access the interstate south of the accident.Two individuals involved in the accident were transported by Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Katonah FD units were on scene for approximately an hour and 15 minutes and the interstate was reopened at about 12 noon.
