Katonah Fire Department was operating for an extended period of time during the middle of the morning rush hour on I-684 today. KFD was dispatched at about 8:50 a.m. to a report of a serious motor vehicle accident on I-684 SB near mile marker 17.8 where the occupant was ejected from the vehicle. Upon arrival, 2214 in KFD Rescue 17, along with Engine 115, set up a safety zone and provided initial patient care until EMS units arrived. Car 2211 then arrived on scene and coordinated with 2214. After KBHVAC and WEMS left the scene, KFD units stood by for about three hours as NY State Police conducted a thorough accident investigation. Units were back in service by 11:50 a.m.
