As everyone knows, the holiday season can't get started until Santa visits Katonah! Escorted by Katonah FD's Engine 117, Utility 8, Car 2211 and Car 2212, Santa rode his sleigh (generously provided by North Pole Affiliate Arroway Tractor) through downtown Katonah before stopping behind Chase Bank to hand out candy canes to a long line of eager kids and their families. Afterwards, the procession spread Christmas cheer as it wound its way up Parkway to Bedford Road, then to Edgemont Road, down Katonah Avenue, through the Katonah Shopping Center before ending up at DeCiccos. The mild weather made for a tremendous day! The Santa Comes to Town tradition, a joint effort between Katonah Fire Department and the Katonah Chamber of Commerce, has been going on for decades, and marks the official start of the holiday season.
